Huntington Library

Mon Jun 8, 2009, 2:06 AM
As you can tell, I went to the Huntington Library in Pasadena this Saturday with a good friend of mine, Rachelle. And for fun, I took some pictures with my Pentax LX, this was the first time I really ever used color film in that camera. While my focusing skills have gotten atrocious in this half year of not taking any photos...manually. I'm quite pleased at my starting to get the hang of knowing when to use which lens aperture and shutter speed (light meter helps sometimes). I think my eye for composition has relatively remained the same, there were some shots I think that were pretty good, and several boring shots...nothing particularly outstanding, and some shots where I now ask myself..."What was I thinking when I took this?!" Most likely the answer to that was, nothing.

But I had fun, for the first time ever, I used a macro lens I randomly found in my mother's drawers while looking for something else. The macro lens was definitely fun, I really liked the distortion it had to some of the other objects I wasn't (trying) to focus on.

Also several times I used the telescopic lens I had with me as well...I guess I have to get stronger because that thing made my camera much harder to hold with all that extra weight. Strangely enough I'm wondering if it might be somewhat damaged because when trying to focus it I had a very hard time turning the lens...it was strange...maybe I'll take it into a shop and get it checked out.

Seeing that I'm not actually taking a photography class, I had to use the Costco Flim processing center to develop my rolls, rather than developing them myself. I guess their machine needs to be cleaned, seeing as how all the scans of my negatives have a line running through them, and a couple of them are semi-discoloured...Maybe I should take another photography class next semester :3 Hmmm...

On the other hand! Hopefully I'll get a DSLR over the summer (maybe as a birthday gift *wink wink*) and that'll certainly make things cheaper...

21 years old, according to a friend I am an ABCDPRV...a long acronym for American Born Chinese Dork Pirate Robot Vampire. She has it in her mind I am some Government Controlled Robot here to keep tabs on you all. Whether that be true or not, I won't disclose.

However, I dabble in a bit of drawing, photography, and costume/fashion design particularly in the EGA/EGL/Gothic Lolita and Visual Kei fashions, and I have a love for anime but I'm trying to not limit myself in drawing that style only, though tempting.

And yeah....a have a wide array of tastes and preferences...whatever I like I like, boxing myself into one genre is boring I tell you.
